Privacy Policy
Effective 28 September 2026
Scripture Scroll (“the app”) is made by Lamplight Studio (“we”, “us”). This page explains what information the app uses, what leaves your phone, and why. In short: there is no account, no ads, and the Bible text works offline. We collect a small amount of anonymous usage and crash information to improve the app, and we never sell it.
1. What stays on your phone
These are stored only on your device and are never sent to us:
- Your liked verses, bookmarks and personal notes
- Your reading position, reading streak and verses-read counts
- Your settings (theme, font size, translation, Words of Jesus in red) and your daily reminder time
They are deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data. The daily reminder is scheduled on your phone; no server is involved.
2. What we collect
The app uses two Google services, which receive the following when you use it:
Google Analytics for Firebase (usage analytics)
- How the app is used: for example that the app was opened, how many verses were viewed in a session, that a verse was liked, bookmarked, shared or given a note (with its reference, such as “John 3:16”), that the book picker, verse scrubber, Discover tab or translation switch was used, that the introduction was finished, that the daily reminder was turned on and at what time, that a reading day or streak was reached, and that you asked to be told when new features are ready.
- An app-instance ID: a random number created for this installation of the app. It is not your name, email or phone number.
- Device and app details: such as phone model, Android version, app version, language and screen size.
- Approximate location: country or region, worked out by Google from your IP address. We never ask for or receive your precise location.
We have turned off the Android advertising ID: the app does not read it.
Firebase Crashlytics (crash reports)
- If the app crashes: the technical details of the error, the state of the app at that moment, device details (model, Android version, free memory and storage) and a random Crashlytics installation ID.
We use this information only to understand which features people use and to find and fix problems. It is not used for advertising and it is not linked to your name or email.
3. What we don’t collect
No name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, files, precise location, advertising ID, payment details or the text of your notes.
4. When you contact us
“Send” in Feedback & Support opens your own email app with a message addressed to us. The message includes the app version and Android version so we can help. If you send it, we receive your email address and whatever you wrote, and we use it only to reply to you.
5. Sharing a verse
When you share a verse as a picture or copy its text, it goes only to the app you choose (for example WhatsApp or Messages). We don’t see it.
6. Who receives the data
We do not sell or rent your information. Analytics and crash data are processed for us by Google as our service provider, under the Firebase privacy and security terms and the Google Privacy Policy. All of it is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). We may disclose information if the law requires it.
7. How long it is kept
Analytics data tied to the app-instance ID is kept for at most 14 months, and crash reports for 90 days. After that, only totals without any ID (such as “1,000 verses viewed today”) remain.
8. Your choices
- Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in Android settings, deletes everything on your phone and starts a new app-instance ID. Data collected under the old ID then expires as described above.
- Because the analytics and crash data are not linked to your name or email, we cannot look them up by those. You are welcome to ask us any question about your data at the email below.
9. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
